LDN Talks @ Night is proud to host Matthias Lebeer, an award winning Belgian film director based in London, whose first short film, “Brod Ludaka” was shortlisted for an Oscar Academy Award.
In this talk, Matthias will give us an insight into his inspiration as a filmmaker, and his hunt for day to day life stories of people living in politically complex environments or occupied territories. Normal life often doesn’t stop in these places and it is this which takes Matthias’s curiosity. His aim is to capture how people in such environments cope and manage to maintain their pride, despite their hardships.
His first short, “Brod Ludaka” is set in Sarajevo during the civil war in 1992 and his first feature film, “The Fearless Tigers”, focuses on the Palestinian national female football team and takes place in the near future.
Come and hear about Matthias’s personal experiences, see what he witnessed whilst making his films and hear the stories of the people he met.

Doors open at 7pm and talk will begin at 7.30pm sharp. The 1 hour talk will be followed by a Q & A session.
